Graphite Shaft and Rotors

Graphite Shafts and Rotors have good performances in terms of high mechanical intensity, superior resistance to molten iron scouring, resistance to sudden changes in operating temperature, and oxidation and corrosion resistance. During aluminum purification, these products are the main expendable parts for the air-eliminating box.

A rotor and shaft set are necessary to inject inert gas and stir for degassing regarding intermittent and continuous online degassing methods.

How it works

During aluminum and aluminum alloy smelting, hydrogen is produced by chemical action with steam diffusing molten aluminum, which will cause inner structural defects in aluminum products. Most aluminum factories use the dissolved gas floating method to purify molten aluminum to avoid such defects. i.e., inert gases such as nitrogen and argon are injected into molten aluminum, and hydrogen will be brought to the molten aluminum surface with the spread and rise of inert gas.

Application

Graphite rotor and shaft | graphite degassing units are widely used in Aluminum Treatment. When casting aluminum melts, gas flushing treatments can significantly improve the quality of the castings. Graphite gas injection tubes, gas distribution systems, and degassing tubes are well suited for this purpose, as graphite is resistant to the flushing gases utilized, namely chlorine, nitrogen, and argon, as well as their mixtures and further aggregates.

The advantages of cryolite in the process of aluminum electrolysis

  1. Best raw material. Specialty graphite has high strength, hardness, good heat resistance, low porosity, anti-abrasion, and anti-scour.
  2. Precision machining. The machining process strictly conforms to customers’ drawings. After machining, different parts match perfectly with high concentricity, which avoids damage caused by mechanical stress to the graphite rotor and shaft.
  3. Special Treatment
 
*Impregnation Anti-oxidation Treatment. To extend the graphite rotor’s and shaft’s service life, we applied to fill the graphite material’s pores and cover the surface of the graphite rotor and shaft, improving heat-resistance properties, anti-oxidation, and anti-scour.

*Coating anti-oxidation Treatment. Our Carbon proprietary coating material is applied to already impregnated anti-oxidation graphite rotor and shaft except for screw threads. The coating material is non-infiltrated with aluminum but well adhered to graphite material. Because the coating material is heat-resisting, anti-oxidation, anti-corrosion, and anti-scouring, the graphite rotor and shaft have a much longer lifespan after further coating treatment.

*Partial strengthening Method. Depending on the end-user’s application situation, we can strengthen the most readily consumed part to extend the graphite rotor and shaft’s service life at the lowest cost.
